NASA paid $5 million for SpaceX employee training after Elon Musk smoked weed with Joe Rogan

Urban Hippie
When Elon Musk appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast in 2018 and burned down a spliff, he probably didn't realize it would cost taxpayers money.  Politico reports that's exactly what happened, thanks to SpaceX's role as a contractor with NASA. The federal space agency paid the company $5 million to conduct a "workplace culture" review, partly to make sure SpaceX employees "are following strict guidelines for federal contractors barring illegal drug use." And, yes, cannabis is actually legal in California, where the Rogan interview took place and SpaceX has its headquarters. But that won't save the company from scrutiny.  Read more...More about Nasa, Marijuana, Elon Musk, Spacex, and Tech Source: Marshable

13 perfect places to be stoned this summer

Urban Hippie
If there's one reward for making it through yet another long slog of a winter, it's taking a sunny day off from work or getting out of the house on a warm weekend and getting stoned.  Of course, your mileage may vary depending on several factors, including your local cannabis laws. We don't want anyone doing anything illegal, after all. But if you happen to live in one of the 10 states (and Washington, D.C.) where recreational cannabis is totally chill, or you're visiting one of those states, there are plenty of options. Whether you're finding a bright spot to lay out and embrace a sunshine daydream or a cool, dark corner to relax away from the heat, there's a range of places outside of your home that are worth the trip. Just make sure to find yourself a designated driver and be careful to

City paper hands out free joints to celebrate marijuana legalization in Michigan

Now this is what I call service journalism. On Thursday, marijuana officially became legal in the state of Michigan, the first state in the midwest to fully legalize the plant for recreational use. So Lansing City Pulse, the capital city's alt-weekly paper, delivered an early Christmas present in the form of free joints to anyone who could prove they were at least 21 years of age.  The results, caught in the above video, are delightful, from the skeptical recipients to the very eager. And some were clearly up for more activism, including the man who mentioned needing to change Title 21, which still classifies marijuana as a schedule 1 drug at the federal level.  Read more...More about Marijuana, Michigan, Legalization, Lansing, and City Pulse Source: Marshable

Pass the poutine: Weed is now legal in Canada and everyone's celebrating

At the stroke of midnight on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, the great people of Canada turned over a new leaf, becoming just the second country to legalize marijuana (Uruguay being the first).  In legalizing weed, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made good on a campaign promise and the move is expected to result in the injection of billions of dollars into Canada's economy, including from U.S. cannabis tourists.  Canadian job seeker interest in the cannabis industry continues to surge. After a temporary spike following the June 20th legalization announcement, searches containing cannabis-related terms have climbed even further through the end of last weekpic.twitter.com/GTL6sPwbMc — Brendon Bernard (@BrendonBernard_) October 17, 2018 Read more...
