Pot Reforms Flood State Legislatures

Uncategorized
In a race to nail down legalization before the unspeakable happens, legislators in more than a dozen states have introduced measures to loosen laws restricting access to or criminalizing marijuana. Advocates who support legal medical and recreational weed, which is now up to 60 percent in the U.S., seem to feel the urge to express their support to their corresponding officials and beyond. The patchwork of various measures, laws, rules and restrictions that govern legal marijuana in 28 states could be propelling the urge for some type of continuity and consolidation, as we come ever closer to having an attorney general who has said “good people don’t smoke marijuana.” Several states are taking early steps toward decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, reported the Hill. Study: Smoking Pot Not Associated with Weight Gain in Later Life

Uncategorized
Cannabis is commonly prescribed to increase appetite, but evidence conflicts over its long-term effect on BMI and obesity. A new longitudinal study adds a crucial piece of evidence for toppling the long-standing myth that smoking weed causes weight gain. The study surveyed adolescents between the ages of 15 and 19, and then followed up again with the same people over 20 years later. They asked if they had ever smoked pot, their cigarette and alcohol intake, as well as their height, weight, physical activity and other potentially confounding factors. Researchers found those who smoked pot were not more likely to gain weight later in life than those who didn’t, and those who started smoking as adolescents had the smallest increase in BMI than any other group, even after adjusting other facto

Jeff Sessions’s Dangerous and Dishonest Marijuana Double-Speak

Enumerating the vulnerable Americans threatened by Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III is like running the guest list for formal dinners aboard Noah’s Ark—almost everybody’s invited. Based on the attorney general nominee’s record, racial minorities, women seeking an abortion, survivors of sexual assault and many others all have something to fear from the U.S. Justice Department. Aware of this, even if protesters in Klan hoods hadn’t crashed his confirmation hearings, the Alabama senator put on a smooth conciliatory show, assuring his detractors, one-by-one, that he would respect peoples’ rights and not use the Justice Department to carry out Donald Trump’s personal Twitter vendettas. It all sounded nice—so nice that the Washington Post wondered aloud if it was all a calculated act. Marijuana

North Dakota Lawmakers Want More Time on Medical Pot Rules

Uncategorized
BY JAMES MACPHERSON ASSOCIATED PRESS BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Caught off-guard by voters in this highly conservative state approving medical marijuana, North Dakota lawmakers said Monday that more time is needed to implement the law. A rare joint House and Senate meeting was held to consider a proposal to delay the law until the end of July. The so-called emergency measure is supported by both Republican and Democratic leaders, who said state health officials and law enforcement are scrambling to solve a number of issues, including allowable forms and potency of medical pot, and oversight of distributors. “It’s important to allow time to get this right,” Democratic Senate Minority Leader Joan Heckaman told lawmakers. The delay measure is expected to pass this week in both chambers, each of wh

If you eat cannabis food, Scott Durrah wants you to take responsibility for your own destiny because you’re the only one who understands your own tolerance. With this fresh, bright salad, Scott can feed people of varying tolerance levels by serving the vinaigrette made with a quarter cup of cannabis-infused olive oil on the side. Diners can control the dosage by sprinkling on the dressing with a heavy or light hand. Vitamin C-rich mangoes have high levels of myrcene molecules, which are also a dominant terpene in cannabis. Because of this, researchers are studying whether mangoes’ reputation of increasing, strengthening and lengthening cannabis’s euphoric effects is scientifically true. Our advice? Eat the mango as if that were true. Dress the salad lightly the first time you try it. (Curr
