The plan to get Congress super stoned on 420

The plan to get Congress super stoned on 420

Urban Hippie
The same group that offered a free joint to Inauguration Day attendees is puff, puff, passing along the free cannabis to Capitol Hill workers. To properly celebrate 420 in the nation's capital, on Thursday from (high) noon until 4:20 p.m., the pro-marijuana group DCMJ is handing out two free joints to members of Congress and congressional staffers, interns, and other workers — and credentialed journalists.  The group will be passing out joints on non-federal land since the city of D.C. allows possession of a small amount of marijuana, but the federal government does not. Liquor sales haven't dropped where weed is legal, and people still go out, new analysis says

Just because toking up is legal in some states, doesn't mean that people aren't still enjoying their booze. When legalization started to push its way through, some people were a little worried, especially those who made their living selling alcohol. Would everyone start to smoke weed and ditch one of America's favored pastimes: getting loaded off booze?  SEE ALSO: Dude smokes weed with his grandma for the first time, and it's adorable Given how hush-hush people have been in the past about consuming cannabis, nobody could say for sure how many would partake, and if anything would change post-legalization. Turns out, people like getting high, and they also like getting drunk. Who knew? Read more...More about Foursquare, 420, Cannabis, Marijuana, and Watercooler Source: Marshable

John Oliver, along with his sick tiger leather jacket, dismantles federal marijuana laws

Urban Hippie
On Sunday's episode of Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver came back from the show's week-long hiatus to poke holes in the government's old school laws concerning marijuana use.  Oliver pointed out that many federal laws concerning marijuana are so broad and straight edge that certain actions — from people with legal medical marijuana cards not getting their treatment to studying the medical effects of marijuana — are virtually impossible.  The host also had a great time freaking out any stoned viewers named Greg.
