Anderson Cooper and Stephen Colbert doing tequila shots gets very messy, very fast

Anderson Cooper and Stephen Colbert doing tequila shots gets very messy, very fast

"I'm not very good at drinking." These are the words of Anderson Cooper as Stephen Colbert whips out a bottle of George Clooney's tequila mid-interview, pouring them both a shot to make up for the fact he won't be joining Cooper for the New Year's Eve special he hosts with Andy Cohen.Colbert's response? "You're a fast learner."Judging by Cooper's expression as he takes a big post-shot bite of lime, we're not too sure about the fast learner bit (Jennifer Lawerence could certainly teach him a thing or to about shots) — but the whole interview is certainly entertaining to watch.Want More?Stephen Colbert and Anderson Cooper have a moving chat about fatherhoodJennifer Lawrence knocks back 3 rum shots in 9 minutes in hilarious interviewStephen Colbert teams up with 'Lord of the Rings' cast for t

TikTok made a Discord, so…chaos?

TikTok has launched a Discord server, where TikTok-enthusiasts can chat about all things...TikTok. Most widely used in the gaming world, Discord has been favoured by gamers since its launch in 2015, championing voice chat rooms, and text-based threads. Since then, Discord has evolved, bringing more like-minded communities together. During the pandemic, in particular, the platform became a more commonplace form of communication, even forging itself as a key player in the creator economy. It's no wonder TikTok wants in. TikTok teased its pending presence on Discord on Wednesday, with a tweet reading, "the all-new TikTok server coming soon".It's just apps on apps on apps. George Clooney's 'The Tender Bar' gets one thing right: Ben Affleck

Urban Hippie
Who doesn't love an underdog story? As a director, George Clooney has reveled in scrappy tales about striving for triumph in the face of outrageous opposition, be it his plucky sports movie Leatherheads, the apocalyptic heroism of Midnight Sky, or the outlandish biopic of a game show host/self-proclaimed hitman, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. His latest, The Tender Bar, is far more grounded, following the true story of American journalist J. R. Moehringer, who grew up in Long Island, under the tutelage of his uncle, a bombastic blue-collar intellectual. Unfortunately, this biopic is so sopping in sentimentality that it lacks the texture to truly be gripping. Ben Affleck stars as Uncle Charlie, who has a warm but mischievous grin from which endless advice pours. Be nice to your mother. Op...

Hypervolt by Hyperice review: Powerful (but heavy) tool for active people

In an ideal world, we’d all get weekly massages, with bonus sessions on days we’re extra tense, tired, or sore. But with the average appointment costing $100 (and some going way higher), massages are luxuries that are hard for most people to justify on a regular basis. The total time of a session—including the drive to an office, a possible wait, the setup in the room, and the drive home—is another common barrier to in-person massages. In my last 14 years of collegiate and professional running, I’ve experimented with different massage schedules. During some marathon build-ups, I splurged on a short (half-hour) session every week, while in others, I waited to book until I felt the need for some major TLC. I can’t say that I ever identified the perfect frequency for both my body and my wallet

Kickstarter said it's moving to the blockchain, and creators are pissed

Kickstarter is embracing the blockchain. Sort of. The crowdfunding platform launched a halfhearted backpedaling campaign Wednesday, after a Dec. 8 plan to move its service to the blockchain was met with derision from the creators who depend on it. Kickstarter's initial proposal, as fleshed out in a second, longer blog post from the company, would see the company help develop, fund, and utilize a decentralized crowdfunding protocol — something creators are clearly not feeling. "[We're] supporting the development of an open source protocol that will essentially create a decentralized version of Kickstarter’s core functionality," wrote Kickstarter founder Perry Chen and CEO Aziz Hasan. "This will live on a public blockchain, and be available for collaborators, independent contributors, and e

Don't flip: Olivia Rodrigo's collab with Casetify is a '90s tech dream

If you kinda want to throw your phone across the room, don't worry about destroying your case: Olivia Rodrigo has you covered. On Wednesday, Dec. 15, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter dropped a collab with Casetify. With seven phone case designs in total, the collection taps into the the wave of vintage tech nostalgia that's currently gripping the internet (led, of course, by Gen Z). And so you don't feel like a "traitor" to the environment, these cases are "good 4 u" and good 4 the planet, each sustainably made from recycled materials. SEE ALSO: Is Gen Z bringing flip phones back? The "Hardened Hearts" collection reflects Rodrigo's Y2K alt-girl style. Manufactured in shades of purple, black, and silver, the designs feature butterflies, hearts, and roses that look like they're straigh...

Signal expands encrypted group video calls to 40 people

Urban Hippie
Messaging app Signal can now support group video chats with 40 participants — up from five — and end-to-end encryption will still be intact. The nonprofit behind Signal announced the change on Wednesday; end-to-end encryption means only the participants in the call can view the messages or video. No one, including the messaging provider, government authorities, or hackers, can view the calls, unless a participant accepts them into the video session or they snatch your device. Signal is best known for offering end-to-end encrypted messaging. However, the developers behind the app only began working on encrypted group video chats last year during the height of the pandemic before rolling it out last December. Signal's new 40-participant cap is higher than some rival messaging apps. Denzel Washington and Stephen Colbert nerd out over how to perform Shakespeare

Urban Hippie
Denzel Washington is about to add another instalment of Shakespeare to his long career of it, in Joel Coen's upcoming film The Tragedy of Macbeth out Dec. 25.Paying no heed to superstition over saying the word "Macbeth" in a theatre, the actor has appeared in plenty of the Bard’s work before, including Othello, Richard II, Coriolanus, Julius Caesar, and Much Ado About Nothing. On Wednesday, the Late Show host Stephen Colbert asked him about any advice on performing Shakespeare — however, Washington replied, "I would like you to give me some advice.""About Shakespeare? I never performed Shakespeare except in an acting class," replied Colbert before diving right into it. "Speak it trippingly on the tongue!""But if you mouth it, as many of your players do," Washington expertly responded, from

'Station Eleven' combines pandemic drama and Shakespeare with stunning results

Urban Hippie
Station Eleven opens with the foreboding image of an abandoned theater overrun by wildlife. The sudden flicker of a spotlight transports us back to the theater's final performance of King Lear, starring famed actor Arthur Leander in the lead. The transition is seamless but eerie. It's the first of many indications that calamity is on its way.Other signs may seem more familiar. A text from someone saying they aren't feeling well. A sinister chorus of coughs. A call from a hospital warning of a dangerous flu. As Station Eleven's first episode unfolds, it becomes clear that the calamity hinted at in the show's opening moments is a plague of epic proportions. With anxiety about the Omicron variant of COVID-19 hanging over our heads, I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to see a show about a pan...

44 things you forgot happened in 2021

Apparently, the pandemic-induced time distortion that defined 2020 didn't get the memo about the new calendar year. Looking back, the events of 2021 turned out to be just as mind-meltingly difficult to keep track of as last year's.But we are once again here to jog your memory about the wrong timeline we continue to live through.  There's a reason why, in the beginning of the year, people were already doing retrospectives on what went down in the first week and first hundred days of 2021. It was kinda darkly funny at first, the impossibility of keeping up with the sheer amount of timeline-breaking, unprecedented shit happening. Then it just went on, and on, and on, and stopped being funny and started messing with our grasp on reality again. Tweet may have been deleted Whether you spent
